About Us

The purpose of the Eldersburg Rogue Runners, Inc. (ERR) is to support runners of all ages and abilities in South Carroll County in any way it can. When supporting High School athletes, ERR views its role as an organization that can sponsor activities that area high schools and booster clubs cannot. ERR sponsors:

  • Adult runners in area Road Races (Baltimore Marathon Relay, Frederick Marathon Relay, etc.)
  • Road races and supports other organizations sponsoring races
  • Training runs for runners of all abilities
  • A series of short XC races for Elementary and Middle School Athletes
  • A trip for area High School XC Athletes to the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in NYC
  • A summer Running Retreat for both High School and College Athletes
  • Encourage Running as a life-long sport/activity

OBJECTIVES - Eldersburg Rogue Runners

Assist in supporting people of all ages and abilities in running. This includes assistance in training, stretching, injury prevention, and increasing endurance/performance. This will be done through:

  1. Creating a formal organization to sponsor activities;
  2. Sponsoring & assistance in sponsoring area running events:
    1. Road Races
    2. Youth Events/Teams (elementary & middle school)
    3. Cross Country Races
    4. Training Programs (adults and high school athletes)
    5. Encourage Participation in Regional Competitions
  3. Assistance in improving area facilities/equipment/trails & paths

Formal Organizational Structure

ERR is a non-stock, non-profit organization. The organization is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) (3) organization (non-profit) under the tax code. ERR is an affiliate of the Freedom Area Recreation Council (FARC). A Board of Directors governs the organization.

As an affiliate of FARC, ERR receives assistance in:

  • Coordinating its programs with other area groups
  • Publicizing events and activities
  • Liability coverage for the Club and its officers
  • Priority treatment in gaining access to county facilities

Does ERR Sponsor the XC Invitational?

No. But we do assist. We help organize, staff, produce/print/sell programs, design/purchase & sell T-shirts, etc. But the event is a LHS event. Proceeds from the entry fees and liability for the event is assumed by the school.

ERR Sponsors pre-season running programs and post season competition:

Some athletes want to prepare for the season in advance of the times allowed by their high schools. ERR and its volunteers provide a safe, structured way for them to do this.

Some athletes wish to extend their season. The school is limited to a certain number of events and, due to financial constraints, omits competing in several prestigious events. Elite runners, and runners who enjoy the sport (may not be "elite" but enjoy the experiences offered: travel, meet people from different areas, run in unique settings, etc.) may wish to compete in events after the season is concluded. ERR organizes the transportation and provides support to them as they seek to compete.

During the season, if area coaches deem it appropriate, ERR can provide supplemental support to teams if they decide to compete in a meet requiring additional resources (money, transportation, uniforms, etc.).

Equipment:

Area high schools sponsor several running teams: Indoor Track & Field, Outdoor Track & Field and Cross Country. The teams receive equipment and uniforms from their respective high schools and the booster clubs for the necessary equipment.

ERR will support the efforts of the administrations and coaching staffs to obtain the funds necessary to acquire equipment similar to those enjoyed at neighboring schools.

ERR will provide equipment for the events, runners, and teams it sponsors. Conversely, the schools will (most likely) not permit the athletes to run in their school uniforms in events that are not sanctioned by the schools.

Summer Camps:

ERR sponsors a summer Track & Field team for Youths. Area T & F athletes can assist coaches as counselors and receive Volunteer Hours. ERR would like to establish a "Coach-in-Training" program for college students interested in teaching and/or coaching. Excess Proceeds from the team registration fees may be paid to College Students acting as coaches to the team, to encouragee their interest in the sport. If/when this is done, it will not be considered wages or salary but a "stipend".

ERR sponsors a summer running retreat for area athletes who wish to train for their fall sports. This is an excellent opportunity for younger (Middle School) athletes to learn about Cross Country and improve their conditioning for their choosen sport..

Running Club:

- The Club sponsors several road races including a Labor Day 5K Rogue Race in early September as a Fund Raiser.

Membership fees will be established annually by the Board.
