NEWS ABOUT MEMBERS
We are proud of our members. We have members who are experienced Marathoners, and we have members who simply run to shed a few pounds after Christmas, or before they head to the beach. If you run in an event, please let us know.
ERR has strong Showing at Baltimore Running Festival (2006)
The following people connected with ERR competed in the Baltimore Running Festival:
Carole Williamson competed in the Baltimore Marathon and completed the course in 4:38.
Jim Ridder (1:58:46) and Pete Lester (1:53:46) competed in the Baltimore Half-Marathon.
Jeff Atkinson, of Freedom Digital Media, a long-time sponsor for the ERR Labor Day Rogue Race, competed in the Relay, and his wife, Kelley, walked the Half Marathon in 2:48. Imagine, that is a pace of over 100 miles/per day - walking. Not Bad! So you walkers out there - take a queue from Kelley and keep moving.
Mike Fitzgerald, who acted as a chaperone on the ERR DC Scavenger Hunt and his son Casey is a member of ERR, also ran well in the Marathon, running a time of 4:27:58.
It was the first race of this distance for Jim Ridder. Jim is a text-book example of how to run your first half-marathon: he researched it from several sources, found a training program he liked, and started running regularly in the late spring. By summer, he was running twice each week (3 - 4 miles) and a longer run on the weekends, which he gradually increased each week. His longest training run was an 11 mile run which he completed two weeks prior to the race. As his endurance and strength increased, his times naturally dropped without doing any speed work. He started out running training runs at a pace of 10 minutes per mile, and in the half-marathon, his pace was 9:04 over the entire 13.1 mile distance. He crushed his goal time of 2 hours.

Jim Ridder finished 2,093rd overall and completed the course in 57:10 (chip time of 55:02). Over 10,000 runners competed in the race.

Miguel Rodriguez– lowered the Club Marathon Mark
Miguel Rodriguez lowered the ERR club record for the Marathon –breaking the record he had previously set. Miguel completed his second Marathon , improving his time by 12 minutes. He ran the Frederick Marathon in 3:42:41.
Our hats are off to Miguel for logging the miles and turning in his best performance.
Carole Williamson Runs in OC Marathon (2005)
While most of us slept on the morning of April 16 th, 2005, one of our members was running the 26-mile course that was the inagural Ocean City Marathon . On a day that featured 30 MPH wind gusts and head winds that battered runners - the times were a bit off for everyone. Carole Williamson turned in a time of 4:50. Carole has run the distance much faster and is looking forward to her next Marathon . But for her next race, Carole will be running in the Frederick Marathon with our women's team. If you are thinking of increasing your mileage above and beyond the 5K and 10K races you are running, ERR members Carle Williamson and Andy Lewin would be good people to speak to before starting out on this quest. Both have run in more than just a few of these races.
Bob Paczynski Runs well in Cherry Blossom 10 Miler (2005)
Bob Paczynski finished the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in 1:09:02 and finished 384 th out of over 4300 Men in the race. Bob is increasing his mileage and lowering his times in impressive fashion.
Liberty Alum Lindsay Shifflett Leaps Over Water to Podium (2005)
Two years ago, Lindsay Shifflett had the best year of her running career. She left Liberty holding a senior record and a member of a school record relay team. She graduated in 2003, heading to Messiah College . She decided to run Cross Country, and her sophomore year she returned to the track team where she became a steeple chaser. This past weekend, Lindsay stood tall on the podium at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships after finishing 6th in the steeplechase. A competitive conference that had produced an All-American steeple chaser only a couple years back.
Lindsay has been known to join ERR from time to time in the summer to train, and we wish her continued success through all of her endeavors.
Congratulations Lindsay, we are all proud of you!
