Our Penn Relays Experience
|
Several of the Eldersburg Rogue Runners took at trip up to Franklin Field in Philadelphia to see the Penn Relays. For six of these individuals, it was their first experience at the "granddaddy" of all track meets. Here is what they had to say about their experience at the Penn Relays:
|
"Penn Relays were amazing. Watching all of the women run sub 5 minute mile's really inspired me. Hopefully one day I'll be able to do something like that. Marion Jones was awesome and so was the men's 4x100, wow I can't believe I'm saying I like a sprinting event. Overall, that was very cool and I hope we can all go back next year and bring even more people and have even more fun!" ~Caitlin Riebau on her 1st experience at Penn Relays
"It was nice seeing all the high level competition, maybe someday I'll be good enough to run in it." ~Bryan Mull on his 1st experience at Penn Relays
"It was such a good experience to see the elite athletes all together running at one meet. I was in awe at how fast some of them were running and how great their pace/stride was. In a couple of years, I'll be there." ~Jim Ridder on his 1st experience at Penn Relays
"Just the first 10 minutes alone...walking down Chestnut Street with the barbeques going, all the venders, it was like a circus. Then we walk in, and we hear the crowd, no lie it was like a football playoff game, and it just gave you goosebumps...warm fuzzies up your spine. That right there was worth going, just for that. Oh yeah...they ran pretty fast too!" ~Bobby Ward on his 3rd experience at Penn Relays |
