Summer Track & Field Team WHEN: April 29 th - June 24 th 2005 (Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 7PM)
Description: Several athletes and parents have asked us to support the creation of a summer track and field program. This program would seek to achieve two primary goals:
Athletes will work towards developing their skills in both the running and field events. Coaches will evaluate each athlete and suggest specific events for the athletes to focus their energies. After approximately four weeks of training, an all-comers meet will be hosted at LHS in which the athletes can compete against athletes of their own age and sex. We also intend to attend our Association's Preliminary (sponsored by UST&F) meet on June 4 th . The cost of participating in this event is not known and will be passed through to each athlete who wishes to enter. There are several other meets in the area ( Maryland & Virginia ) which your athlete will be able to attend as well (most of them are on Saturdays or Sundays in June & July). These are all-comers meets which are conducted by area running clubs. Races are typically conducted in age groups (9 & 10 - Bantam; 11 & 12 - Midget; 13 & 14 - Youth; 15 & 16 - Intermediate; 17 & 18 - Young Men & Women). Summer Track & Field Schedule: Below is a link to the Summer T & F Team Schedule. Please check back as we will update this as more information is made available from the various meet directors. Instruction/Coaches: Bob Ward & Dan Jones will offer expert training advice. Collectively, they have over 20 years of coaching experience for Liberty High School . Because of state high school rules governing their involvement, several parents will also be directing workouts. Included in this group are Gene Williams and Pete Lester. When possible, workouts will be tailored to improve each athletes speed, endurance and strength. These workouts will be conducted in groups divided by sex and age group. Cost: The cost is $45 per athlete. Athletes will receive organized supervised workouts and an ERR Team Singlet to wear in meets. How Do I Sign Up: Complete the Form which can be downloaded below. Every participant must have a parent sign the release form. Complete the Form and send it to ERR (The address is on the form) along with a check made payable to The Eldersburg Rogue Runners. Summer Track & Field Registration Form So you have Signed up - Now What? We have prepared some information for both parents and athletes. If you have signed up, you will want to read this. If you are thinking about signing up, this may answers some lingering questions. Volunteers: As with any program, we need your help to make this successful. If you have coached in the past or are willing to help us in this endeavor, please let us know. We would like to offer all of the athletes as much individual attention as possible.
