Bagel R-U-Ns continue
Are You In? For a Bagel that is. Join us every Saturday Morning for a run. On Even Dates we meet at Oklahoma Road Middle School, on Odd Dates we meet at Liberty High School. We have runners of all abilities, fitness levels and running paces. So, spread the word and come join us for a run. Afterwards, we will head to one of the local Bagel Shops and grab some carbs. The weather is ready to turn towards the warmer side, so now is a perfect time to increase your training to get ready for the spring races.
Schedule for the early spring:
June 20 ORMS - - June 27 LHS
July 4 ORMS - - July 11 LHS - - July 18 ORMS - - July 25 LHS
August 1 LHS - - August 8 ORMS - - August 15 LHS - - August 22 ORMS - - August 29 LHS
Each Summer ERR offers nightly training runs. The runs are designed to fill several functions:
The format is flexible and friendly. We will have several adults at every run to ensure safety. Runners will run both a distance and pace that is comfortable to them. We do encourage runners to attend as often as they can, and run at least 3 times each week, if not more (whether with ERR or on your own). The key is for us to gradually build up our fitness level to a point where we are running comfortably for over 30 minutes by mid-August. The summer running program is all about “base mileage”. We will not do speed work. We encourage runners to increase their mileage about 10% each week.
This program has been offered for over 8 years and we have done it several ways. This year’s program directors are Pete and Christine Lester. We will be meeting at their house each night at 7PM. That is 1992 Conan Doyle Way.
Monday – Thursday will always be at the Lesters. Friday will be at the Lesters unless otherwise posted. The Friday night pizza run is basically: bring $5 on Friday nights. We run, and afterwards, eat pizza. We plan to have a Tie-Dye run (run, then tie dye a running shirt afterwards), we will do our Port-to-Fort Run and our DC run on the National Mall in Washington. Those dates will be announced at a later date (typically late July/early August).

If you are a Parent and want to learn more about running in general – we would encourage you to visit the PARENT CORNER. There are some terrific resources posted in this area. ERR is thrilled to announce that we have a Head Coach with unmatched experience and reputation. Coach Doug Renner will be our head ERR track coach. Coach Renner is the current head McDaniel Track and Cross County coach and has coached at Westminster High and was a founder of two youth track clubs (Fleet Feet, Excel). Coach is well know and respected by our local high school track and XC coaches. Please join us in welcoming Coach Renner to the ERR family.

The 2009 Trip was a terrific success. Thank you to Debbie Henretty for leading this great event, and to all the chaperones and athletes that make it a success.
Each year, we charter a bus, rent a block of hotel rooms and take High School athletes up to this event to compete. Last year we had our most diverse group join us as we had athletes from 7 area schools travel with us to Van Cortland Park, The Bronx, NY.
If you are interested in chaperoning this event – please contact Debbie Henretty at FootlockerXC@ERRun.org. Check back here for updates.

As most of you know, we started out as a club primarily geared toward supporting the area's High School Athletes. Over the last few years, we have added programs for middle school runners and elementary runners.
We also have a small, but growing number of adult members who are active in area races. We are currently forming Relay teams for the Frederick Marathon (each team will have 4 members, and each leg is a little over 6 Miles). We have had as many as four teams run – we take this pretty loose – so all are welcome. If you want to participate, please let us know.
