2008 SUMMER RUNNING RETREAT - Concord Retreat Center
Last year's Summer Running Retreat was an unprecedented success, providing 32 area runners with the opportunity to run in a unique setting, meet and work with other area runners, and learn important lessons of teamwork, communication, and other running related topics. Planning for the 2008 Summer Running Retreat is progressing, as we have found a terrific site and reserved the dates. We will be traveling to a different part of West Virginia this year - Yellow Spring - to the Concord Retreat Center. Concord Retreat has comfortable lodgings, with air-conditioning and common areas, basketball and volleyball courts, numerous playing fields, a swimming pool, and a challenging ropes course. Also included is a game room, campfire circle, outdoor maze, and many trails. Meals will be prepared by the retreat kitchen staff this year, and served in their dining facility.
WHAT: Summer Running Retreat WHEN: July 27th thru 30th WHERE: Concord Retreat, Yellow Spring, WV COST: $200 for Members, $205 for Non-Members (this includes membership into club also!) Each year, we charter a bus, rent a block of hotel rooms and take High School athletes up to this event to compete. Last year we had our most diverse group join us as we had athletes from 7 area schools travel with us to Van Cortland Park, The Bronx, NY.
The 2007 trip was planned by Beth Kobett and Mark Smith. If you have comments about last years trip, please send them to Beth as she is already working on next year’s trip.
If you are interested in chaperoning this event – please contact Beth at FootlockerXC@ERRun.org. Check back here for updates.

As most of you know, we started out as a club primarily geared toward supporting the area's High School Athletes. Over the last few years, we have added programs for middle school runners and elementary runners.
We also have a small, but growing number of adult members who are active in area races. We are currently forming Relay teams for the Frederick Marathon (each team will have 4 members, and each leg is a little over 6 Miles). We have had as many as four teams run – we take this pretty loose – so all are welcome. If you want to participate, please let us know.
